The Recruitment Process
The whole aim of our recruitment process is to give you the best opportunity to show you're the most suitable person for the job and to ensure we make the right choice based on an objective assessment of each applicant's merits.
At Carillion, the recruitment process is usually handled by a Central Recruitment Team. When managers across our business are looking to recruit, they will contact this central team who will take charge of the recruitment process –from placing a recruitment ad to arranging pre-employment checks.
We normally receive applications one of two ways – through our online application process or by recruitment agencies. The Hiring Manager will review all applications/CVs and shortlist successful candidates. All applications are judged solely on suitability for the role, based, initially, on the skills and experience candidates tell us about in their application and, later, at interview and/or assessment.
The Central Recruitment Team will then contact the shortlisted candidates to schedule interview dates, whilst also informing unsuitable candidates. The interview will be conducted by the Hiring Manager – they have the best understanding of the demands of the role/s and the skills, qualities and experience required. The Hiring Manger will then select the suitable candidate/s and inform the Central Recruitment Team of his/her decision. The Central Recruitment Team will then make a verbal offer, arrange a contract and arrange pre-employment checks. The final stage will be to advise all parties of the acceptance and agree a start date.
