Glencorse Barracks

Carillion’s work on Glencorse Barracks has set a new benchmark in quality with Defence Estates’ new build accommodation for servicemen and women.

Our building and consultancy businesses worked closely together on the £38m design and build project to provide new and refurbished contemporary living accommodation and mess facilities at the barracks near Edinburgh. New office accommodation and storage facilities, including a new motor transport facility, have also been constructed.

Due to the scale of the project, we located a design team on site to provide completely integrated services. This enabled constant liaison between the design team, site team, sub-contractors and quantity surveyors so that issues could be addressed and solutions established without delay to site operations.

The scheme has been praised for its high quality, with courtyards and avenues creating an ambience more usually associated with a university campus than a military barracks.
