Leeds

Carillion brought construction to life in the classrooms of Leeds as part of the Leeds Combined Secondary Schools PFI project.

We worked closely with Carr Manor High School, Ralph Thoresby High School, John Smeaton School, Primrose and Shakespeare Combined School and South Leeds School to provide support and resources for a number of technology, environmental, health & safety and mathematical projects. The Carillion team gave practical demonstrations of the work that was being done within such areas as sustainable design, habitat preservation and energy use to help students really engage with the curriculum and increase industry understanding.

Carillion supported careers advice workshops by enabling students to speak to members of our specialist teams about the work they do. We also provided training opportunities by arranging a one day per week placement for one of the students with our specialist contractors on the South Leeds School site.

The Leeds PFI project has been a complete success for Carillion and the Client with handover now having take place, and the project being delivered on time and within budget.
